Internet Explorer unable to execute JavaScript

Sometime you can not recall what you have done to your PC and suddenly your Internet Explorer can not execute JavaScript. It is annoying, isn’t it?

Why don’t you try one of these method… try one by one from the easiest..

  1. Clean up “temporary internet files” folder.
Then try your browser. If it still refuse to run the JavaScript, then try the next method.
  2. Reinstall Windows Scripting by executing scripten.exe available from Microsoft site.
If this also still fail, try the next:
  3. Unreg and Register these dll’s:

    Go to Start/Run and type:

    1. "regsvr32 Shdocvw.dll"
    2. "regsvr32 Oleaut32.dll"
    3. "regsvr32 Actxprxy.dll"
    4. "regsvr32 Mshtml.dll"
    5. "regsvr32 Urlmon.dll"
    6. "SFC /SCANNOW" (you may need to press ‘r’ for retry many times)
    7. Restart IE then "regsvr32 Shell32.dll"

If this also still fail, no choice but you have to do this:

  1. Uninstall-Reinstall IE…

Most of the time the previous 3 will work…so I think I will write down about reinstalling Internet Explorer later.

Disabling Adobe Automatic Updater

Disabling Adobe Automatic Updater

Adobe Updater, you’re not cool…at all. I’m using 3.5G connection when I’m on the go. It gives me a fast connection. The only con is it’s not unlimited. I have to be more cautious about my quota when it is around month-end or beginning of the month.

I noticed the problem last month, when the meter indicator shows that I already used a lot of my limited quota just in about a couple of minutes. I did not connect through ftp, in fact it was only some websites full with text, not the rich media content. Didn’t know what is really happened, I closed the browsers. But the meter was still running. At the first place I was worried it’s a virus, but later I found out that it was the “Adobe Updater” that eat up my quota. At that occasion I simply cancel the process since it still require a lot of MB to be finished.

Surrogates

Surrogates

Find a DVD titled “Surrogates” last month when wandering around the DVD store. Had no idea what the plot is… I choose it simply because I saw Bruce Willis in its cast. :)

The funny thing is I watched this movie not pretty long after I watched Avatar, and I sooner found that both surfacing a rather similar issues. They both tell a story about people who operate and controlling their presence-copy. Well, you may say that they’re not so similar – in “Avatar” the human is controlling an organism – the na’vi, while in the “Surrogates” the human is controlling a robot; in the “Avatar” the setting is other planet, while “Surrogates” is on our dear Earth.

Motivation, the energy that keeps us going

I would say that I don’t really understand what motivation is. To me, motivation is like a mystery. What make me so enthusiastic? What keeps me doing something even when my body is really tired?

We witnessed that some people in the name of passion will work so hard, perform so well to achieve what they believe can give them satisfaction. Sometimes it seems that they don’t really care of what they’ll get in return. On contrary, in many occasion we also observe that people with relatively enough wages don’t even try to perform better. The motivation of the individual is what makes those examples different.

In current situation, an individual or a team or organization should give a bigger attention on individual motivation. We cannot compete without any motivation in ourselves. Creativity will blossom out if an individual can keep his motivation level high. It might be true, that motivation level play a bigger role to any success than any other competencies values.

CSharp: Populating a drop down list with database

Populating a dropdown list with the data pulled from Database. Yeah, it is not a fancy topic. Just in-case I myself forget how to do it, particularly when I use Ajax in my page.

We all knew that it is often useful to allow users to select items from a dropdown list for input into a web form. However, this can be somewhat too limiting in certain situations.
This article will show how to dynamically populate a dropdown menu with records fetched from a database.
First,  declare the assembly reference:

using System.Data.SqlClient;

When using it with Ajax, you might want to put it on an update panel… along with the button which will be use as a trigger.

My Google PR2 is gone!

My Google PR2 is gone!

Saturday morning. Browsing here and there, just like any other day. Then I checked the PR of this site. What a shocking view in front of me! This very site has dropped from PR2 and become PR0. What’s happened? Was there any wrong doing I had done? As far as I can remember, I didn’t violate any rules of Google best practices. Then I tried to recall anything I had done these couple of days… Add links to my favorite sites, trying some updates to the site theme I used, and posting a blog regarding my first impression of Google Buzz… Wait a minute… My first impression on Buzz as I had written 2 days ago can be considered a bit off. I was questioning Google strategy which only provide 5 connectors to other social net, and its lacking of providing a connector to the most used social net in the world..the Facebook.

Is it this blogpost which cost me my PR2 rank? I’m not so sure about that. But if it is true, how discouraging is that? Is Google intolerant to criticism? I hope not. When I checked my PR, I used several different site checkers. Not all of them show 0…but the tendency is. Anyway, despite the fact that I’m losing the PR, I found that the indexed pages of this site by Google is increasing, and so for the Yahoo and other search engines. And my Alexa ranking is also getting better. So what is it?

For now, I just hope that it is just a temporary or because of instability reason on Google PR new algorithm. I had experienced with the Yahoo directory missing earlier, and after sometimes it just return back as per normal. So wish me luck of getting back my PR2, guys!

Google Buzz… what is that?

Google Buzz… what is that?

Yesterday noon, just like any other days… checking my free webmail accounts for anything new.
And then it was the gmail turns. I typed mail.google.com on my browser, and the page in front of me was offering if I want to try the “Buzz”. Huh? buzz? what is that?
I was quite busy yesterday, so I decided that I didn’t have time to even just take a look on the thing. I simply click the link to my mailbox instead.

Then when I was at home last night watching news channel on my TV, somehow the “Buzz” news drew my attention. It said that “Buzz” will help the social net users to streamline their cluttered social account into one interface.
